Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967 at Atlanta. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta from her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. Her father was a young man when he was interested in theatre. When he was a student at Emory University he appeared in numerous productions on and off campus. Following his air force service, in 1953 he appeared in an airforce production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in the year 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. The couple divorced in 1957. the military and Walter enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. The family moved in 1960 and relocated into Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show for kids named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. It was a venture that they funded themselves. The Actors and Writers Workshop was founded in 1964 and ran for six years. In the meantime, they also had two children Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
